Becoming and fading, life and death – we face these principles every day in several aspects as well as in our entire existence, which is reflected in the continuous cycle of the seasons.

The new recording by Tristan Meister and the Ensemble Vocapella Limburg features works from romanticism, the heyday of men’s choirs, and the following periods up until today. The award-winning choir, founded in 2007, presents pieces by Friedrich Silcher, Franz Schubert and Richard Strauss alongside commissioned and dedicated compositions by Vytautas Miškinis, Nikodemus Gollnau, Alwin Michael Schronen and Maarten Van Ingelgem. The singers are joined by the musicians of the Ensemble Impronta, who add another facet to the tonal palette of this colourful recording.

This recording, which was sponsored by Rondeau Production in recognition of the ensemble’s outstanding performance at the 9th German Choir Competition in 2014, presents an excellent cross-section of the largely unknown repertoire for men’s choirs.

Pizzicato (Juli 2016, Guy Engels)

"Das 26-köpfige Ensemble Vocapella Limburg bewegt sich festen Fußes durch die unterschiedlichen Stile. Es schafft den satten, großen romantischen Klang, ohne sich aufzuplustern, weiß aber ebenso gut die intime Mehrstimmigkeit und differenzierte Rhetorik des 20. Jahrhunderts wohl ausbalanciert wiederzugeben."

American Record Guide (August 2016, Philip Greenfeld)

“The music is worthy of the poetry, so how could you not be moved? Germany is ground-zero for adult male choirs, and I doubt you’ll argue that proposition after hearing these guys in action. A unique and probing anthology.”
