Wiebke Lehmkuhl

Wiebke Lehmkuhl
Soon after her singing studies with Ulla Groenewald and Hanna Schwarz at Hamburg, Wiebke Lehmkuhl moved on to become a much-in-demand singer of concert and oratorio repertoires. Following on from guest contracts at the opera Kiel, the Staatsoper Hamburg, and Hanover, she entered her first fixed engagement at the opera house Zurich in the 2008/09 season. 2010 saw the release of her new recording of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and Riccardo Chailly. The alto regularly works with conductors such as Reinhard Goebel, Thomas Hengelbrock, Philippe Jordan, Hermann Max, Marc Minkowski, Peter Neumann, Hans-Christoph Rademann, and Andreas Spering; she has performed at the Schleswig- Holstein Musikfestival, the Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), the Leipzig Gewandhaus, the Bachfest Leipzig, the Berlin Philharmonie, and at Bilbao and Tokyo. Most recently, she could be heard in a production of Handel’s La Resurrezione under Nikolaus Harnoncourt at the Musikverein Vienna and the Lucerne Festival.
