Frank Markowitsch

Frank Markowitsch studied in Freiburg and Berlin. His subjects were German studies, Romance studies, philosophy, and music education. He regularly performs together with renowned ensembles such as the RIAS Kammerchor, the choir of the North German Radio (NDR), the Choeur de Radio France, the Coro National de Espagna, the Amsterdam Baroque Choir, the Berliner Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Opéra Comique de Paris and the Opéra de Lille. He has performed with numerous orchestras, including the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Le Cercle de l'Harmonie and moderntimes_1800. He has worked with many renowned conductors, among them René Jacobs, Kurt Masur, Ton Koopman, Enoch zu Guttenberg, and Jérémie Rhorer. Markowitsch is the artistic director of the Vokalakademie Berlin and the Junges Ensemble Berlin. He is one of the co-founders of the CHOR@BERLIN festival. Since 2011, he has been the deputy music director of the Staats- und Domchor; he teaches at the Universität der Künste Berlin.
