Heidi Elisabeth Meier
Heidi Elisabeth Meier studied concert and opera singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Munich. After graduation with a Meisterklassen diploma she became a member of the ensemble at the Theater Freiburg for the following three years. In 2003, she won the Anneliese-Rothenberger-Gesangswettbewerb. Her broad concert and opera repertoire also encompasses contemporary music. Under the baton of Kent Nagano she recorded Arnold Schönberg’s Jacobsleiter together with the Symphonie Orchester Berlin. Heidi Meier also performed this work at the Lucerne Festival 2007. She has been engaged as a lyrical coloratura soprano at the Staatsoper Nürnberg since 2006. Here, she has performed as Mozart’s Susanna, Verdi’s Gilda, Offenbach’s Olympia, Puccini’s Musetta, Henze’s Manon and Strauss’ Sophie. Due to the huge success of the 2006 Nuremberg production of Strauss’ Rosenkavalier, together with principal conductor Christof Prick she travelled to Hongkong, where she gave a guest performance with the Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Edo de Waart. She is also a highly sought-after performer of Mozart’s Queen of the Night.
