Norddeutscher Figuralchor
Since its foundation in 1981, the Norddeutscher Figuralchor under the baton of Prof. Jörg Straube has quickly become one of the leading semiprofessional chamber choirs in Germany. As early as 1985 the choir was awarded third prize at the German choir competition, and in 1990 it was awarded first prize. Three times the choir’s recordings have been awarded the Echo Klassik.
The ensembles repertoire comprises works from the 16th century through to contemporary compositions. The Romantic and Early Music repertoires are of especial importance within the choir’s work. The Norddeutscher Figuralchor has documented its musical and technical qualities in numerous recordings, both a-cappella and together with highly regarded ensembles. The choir has toured Europe and Japan.
