Eiji Oue
Japanese born Eiji Oue began playing the piano at the age of four. Among his other teachers, prominent conductors such as Seiji Ozawa, Sergiu Celibidache, Claudio Abbado, Sir Colin Davis, Kurt Masur and especially Leonard Bernstein are to be found. As his mentor and friend, Bernstein presented Oue to the world. Between 1991 and 1995 Oue was principal conductor of the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra. For the following seven years he conducted the Minnesota Orchestra. Since the season of 1998/1999 he has been principal conductor of the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover and since 2003 he has also been employed as music director of the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, the versatile maestro has been conducting the Orquestra Sinfonica de Barcelona since autumn 2005. At present, Oue has conducted many renowned Orchestras in Germany, especially nearly all of the countries’ radio orchestras. In the United States, Oue has conducted renowned orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.
