Sibylla Rubens
The soprano Sibylla Rubens studied concert and opera-singing in Trossingen and Frankfurt on Main. She rounded off her training with numerous masterclasses – with Edith Mathis among others – and took part in Irwin Gage's masterclass on Lied Interpretation. Since 1992, she has been studying with Prof. Elsa Cavelti in Basle.The varied soprano repertoire has taken her to concerts and festivals at home and abroad. She has particularly close links with the Stuttgart Bach Academy and Helmuth Rilling. Philippe Herreweghe has also engaged her for countless of his projects, most recently for a new recording of Bach's St Matthew Passion.Highlights to date include Mendelssohn's Elias with the NDR Symphony Orchestra, Fauré's Requiem with the Concertgebouworkest Amsterdam (Philippe Herreweghe), Brahms' Deutsches Requiem with the Netherlands Philharmonic in Amsterdam (Harmut Haenchen), a tour of Händel's Messiah with the Windsbacher Knabenchor and an extensive European tour with the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra (Canada).Future engagements include Bach's Magnificat (Harmut Haenchen), Mahler's 4th Symphony with the Strasbourg Philharmonic and a tour of Mozart arias with the Chapelle Royale led by Philippe Herreweghe. In addition Sibylla Rubens will sing Haydn's Nelson-Messe and Schnittke's Requiem with Harmut Haenchen in Amsterdam. She will also be working closely together with the Gächinger Kantorei (Helmuth Rilling) on various concerts and recordings, and will continue her regular appearances with the Windsbacher Knabenchor.
