Salonorchester Cappuccino

Since the mid-1980s, people throughout Germany have discovered a renewed interest in Salon music. Salon ensembles and amateur orchestras have emerged everywhere, just like professional dance music groups. Regrettably, a certain monotony has ensued: Either they perform sinfully palatable Schlager hits or stroll exclusively through swaying Waltz waves! Since 1989, the Salonorchester Cappuccino has attempted to bring the wide variety of “Augenblickskunst” to the audience. The ensemble traces the fate of the composer, and reconstructs historic concert sequences and stages themed evenings; they also follow the political dimension of the entertainment. These events are, at their core, a fun and open exchange between concert visitors and musicians – a recipe that can explain the ever-growing success of Cappuccino. For almost 15 years, their concert series “Das gibt’s nur einmal” has enjoyed great popularity in Leipzig, while celebrated guest appearances at many festivals (such as the Oberstdorfer Musiksommer, the Rheingau Musik Festival or the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele) show that the ensemble succeeds by giving a passionate audience a podium for this music.
