Moritz Schott
Moritz Schott was born in Hamburg in 1979 and received his first piano lessons at the age of six. After taking his final school degree and after a year in civilian service, Schott studied church music with Prof. Johannes Geffert (organ) and Prof. Reiner Schuhenn (conducting) at Cologne. He returned to Hamburg in 2005 in order to extend his organ playing abilities with Prof. Pieter van Dijk and Prof. Wolfgang Zerer. Since the start of the academic year 2008/2009 Moritz Schott is now studying for his diploma as a solo concert performer with Stefan Engels at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Leipzig. The young organist gained further musical inspiration from courses with Jon Laukvik, Michel Chapuis, Nicolas Kynaston, Margareta Hürholz and Thierry Mechler.Moritz Schott worked as a church musician and organist at the Kreuzkirche in Cologne from 2002 and has been occupying that position at the Paul-Gerhardt-Kirche in Hamburg-Winterhude since 2005. Since the summer of 2007, he has been working in close connection with Ulrich Kaiser and the Neuer Knabenchor Hamburg which he regularly accompanies on their performances. He has performed at concerts in Kiel, Cologne, Dusseldorf and Koblenz, at the Schwerin cathedral, at the Mozart organ at Kirchheimbolanden and at Trier (together with the Bach-Chor).
