Katrin Wende-Ehmer
1989 saw the fulfilment of Katrin Wende-Ehmer’s lifelong dream of creating an ensemble that would, through hard work and dedication, become one of the leading women’s choirs in Germany. This dream was the creation of the Münchner Frauenchor (Munich Women’s Choir). After studying at the Leopold-Mozart-Conservatory in Augsburg (1978–1983), she attended various vocal training and choir conducting courses and seminars. She herself has been lecturing for many years and leading women’s choirs seminars. She is an active member of the amj and the Music Board of the Bavarian Singer Association and as such, she is very strongly committed to the advancement of amateur choirs.For her outstanding work in choir conducting, she was awarded a grant by the German Music Council in 1998. In October 2000, she also assumed the creative direction of the mixed “Cantica Nova Holzkirchen” choir. In addition, she was a singer in Professor Kurt Suttner’s via-novachoir Munich for eight years.
