Prometheus Ensemble Berlin
The Prometheus Ensemble Berlin was founded as a young, professional chamber orchestra by the conductor Frank Markowitsch and the trumpeter Tom Pielucha in 2010. In addition to the numerous concerts together with the choir of the Junges Ensemble Berlin in the chamber music hall at the Philharmonie Berlin, for example in Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony no. 9 or Johann Sebastian Bach’s St Matthew Passion, the ensemble has appeared in concerts hosted by the RIAS Kammerchor and the chamber choir of the Staatsoper Berlin. The ensemble’s name reflects its motto: Prometheus brought fire to mankind, symbolising not only strength and warmth, but also culture. The consideration and communication of the cultural and philosophical contexts of the pieces they perform is one of the chamber orchestra’s central aims.
