Alice Ungerer

Alice Ungerer
Alice Ungerer (*1989 in Paris) made her first experiences on the performing stage with the children’s choir Maîtrise de Radio France. She initially studied literature, philosophy, German, history, ancient Greek, and music in the ‘classes préparatoires’ at the Parisian lycée Fénelon for two years. During the vacations, she held an internship at the Komische Oper Berlin—an experience which guided her decision for a career in music. She took a Bachelor’s degree in musicology at Vienna. At the same time, she received vocal tuition from various teachers in Berlin, Paris, and Vienna. Since October 2011, she has been enrolled for a degree in classical singing with Prof. Carola Gruber and Prof. Regina Werner-Dietrich at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Leipzig. As part of the academy’s mentoring programme (MENTOSA), she has the privilege of receiving individual coaching with the Kammersänger Martin Petzold. Alice has held a scholarship with the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Foundation (Leipzig) since November 2013. In addition to her studies, she regularly performs as a soloist in recitals and oratorio-concerts in Berlin, Bologna (Italy), Poznan (Poland), and further afield. In February 2014, she sang at St Thomas’s Church in Leipzig with the Gewandhausorchestra and St Thomas’s Boys Choir under the direction of the choir’s current cantor, Georg Christoph Biller. She participated in the Bachfest Leipzig under the direction of Christiane Bräutigam in June 2014, and she appeared at St Thomas’s Church a further time in the following month, then singing under the direction of Ulrich Kaiser. Her musical work has found additional inspiration in master-classes with Peter Kooij, Philipp Moll, Jeanette Favaro-Reuter, Janice Alder, Robert Expert, and Robert Dumé. Since March 2014, Alice has also been active as a vocal coach with the children’s choir of the MDR (Central-German broadcasting station).
