Volker Hedtfeld
Volker Hedtfeld pursued his musical interests from an early stage in his life. In addition to receiving tuition on the violin, viola, organ and piano, he discovered his particular passion for singing. Already at the age of seventeen, he was able to gain experi- ence as the director ofyouth and church choirs. He studied music education at the Musikhochschule in Cologne. Also, he has performed as an organist in sacred and non-sacred contexts. He expanded his studies in choral conducting and choral voice tutoring with Gerd Müller-Lorenz, Bodo Bischoff, Kurt Hofbauer and others.In 1999, Hedtfeld founded his first vocal ensemble – Opus 99. In 2000, he began his studies of orchestral conducting with Lutz Köhler at the Universität der Künste Berlin. Here, Hedtfeld directed for many years the Cantorei of the Reformationskirche at Berlin-Tiergarten in 2001. One year later, he founded the chamber choir Opus Vocale. Between 2002 and 2003, Hedtfeld complemented his choral conducting studies with Uwe Gronostay. In the following year, he moved to the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin and began his studies with Jörg-Peter Weigle. Since 2007, Hedtfeld has been the conductor and musical director of the renowned Karl-Forster-Chor Berlin
