Opus Vocale
Opus Vocale combines the art of vocal soloists with the powerful radiance of homogenous ensemble singing. Soloists and studied choir singers from all over Germany regularly come together for the choir‘s concert series in numerous different German cities. Volker Hedtfeld founded Opus Vocale in 2002. Today, the choir‘s repertoire encompasses a plethora of works from almost all musical periods from Palestrina through to Penderecki – from the polyphonic choral music of the Renaissance and the Baroque through to the Romantic choir literature and music of the twentieth century. In addition, contemporary music is one of Opus Vocale‘s central concerns. The motet „Des ‚Vater‘s ewig‘s Wort“ by the Dresden-based composer Carsten Borowski was given its debut performance by the choir. Furthermore, the choir produced a recording of the„Missa Orbis Factor (XI)“ by the Tübingen-based composer Jan Janca. Opus Vocale has committed its work mainly to a-cappella literature but also regularly performs the large-scale oratorios from the Baroque period. Here, the choir works together with young orchestras such as the ensemble Callinus as well as with renowned ensembles such as the Karl-Forster-Chor Berlin. With this repertoire, the choir appears at many festivals. Further information about Opus Vocale at www.opusvocale.de.
