Georg Grün

Georg Grün studied church music, music education, conducting, catholic theology, and musicology at the Hochschule für Musik Saar and at the Universität des Saarlandes; he also studied organ improvisation with Jean-Pierre Leguay at Paris. After his studies, he founded the Kammerchor Saarbrücken and taught at a grammar school with a strong musical profile for several years. In 2000, he was appointed professor for conducting at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim. Grün’s high quality work with the conservatoire’s choirs has achieved international acclaim. Grün is also a sought after adjudicator at international competitions and a much in demand tutor for international master classes. In addition to the work with his own ensemble, he regularly tours as a guest conductor both at home and abroad. He has, for example, worked with the SWR Vokalensemble, the Rias Kammerchor, the Argentinean Coro Nacional de Jóvenes, and has toured South Korea and Japan with the World Youth Choir. Since 2009, he is the guest conductor of the Croatian Radio Choir, and performs frequently with renowned orchestras such as the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, the Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester or the Philharmonie Baden-Baden.
