Junger Kammerchor Rhein-Neckar
Ever since its foundation in 2001, the Junger Kammerchor RheinNeckar under the direction of Mathias Rickert has given talented young singers the opportunity to engage with and perform challenging choral works to a high stan dard. The Junger Kammerchor RheinNeckar has presented its mainly sacred programmes in concerts at many churches across BadenWürttemberg, but also in other European cities, for example in Helsinki and Trento. Firmly established as one of Germany’s leading nonpro fessional choirs, the Junger Kammerchor has made a very strong name for itself in the last decade. At the Deutscher Chorwettbewerb in Kiel in 2006, the young singers received a third prize. In 2005 and 2009, the ensemble was victorious at the Landeschorwettbewerb BadenWürttemberg. In 2009 the Junger Kammerchor was also awarded a silver diploma by an international jury at the choir festival in Tampere (Finland). The singers represented BadenWürttemberg once more at the Deutscher Chorwettbewerb in Dortmund in 2010. At the 2013 international choir competition in Malta, the Junger Kammerchor participated in the mixed choir and popular music categories – winning first prizes in both. The concerts of the Junger Kammerchor RheinNeckar are characterised by unusual programming, ranging from explo rations of Scandinavian music, to improvised choral works, and medieval night offices. The performance of Christmas cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach together with the Barock orchester Karlsruhe, who perform on period instruments, is another highlight from the choir’s artistic history.
