Leipziger Cembaloduo

Leipziger Cembaloduo
The Leipziger Cembaloduo consists of the two musicians Michaela Hasselt and Hildegard Saretz. Michaela Hasselt was awarded her diploma in cembalo playing from the Hochschule für Musik Munich. She continued after this degree with further studies in cembalo and Hammerflügel with Prof. Mitzi Meyerson at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin, and with Prof. Christine Schornsheim at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig; she completed these studies with a concert diploma. As a member of the trio L’Arabesque, she received a scholarship from the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb in 1995, and was also awarded the Veith-Stiftung’s Förderpreis. She performs with a diverse range of chamber music ensembles and orchestras, both as a soloist and as a continuo player; among these are the Freiburger Barockorchester, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, the Dresdner Barockorchester, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, the Berliner Barock Solisten, and others. Hasselt has been part of many CD recordings and radio productions. She is a much-in-demand accompanist at international competitions. Since 1999, Michaela Hasselt has been teaching cembalo and continuo playing, as well as répétiteurship at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig.
Born in Berlin, Hildegard Saretz studied church music at the Evangelische Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Halle, and then went on to study piano and répétiteurship at the Musikhochschule Leipzig. In 1994, her profound interest in Early Music led to the decision to complement her musical education with further tuition in cembalo with Prof. Nicolas Parle at the same academy. Saretz enhanced her knowledge and skills of authentic continuo playing in master classes with Jesper Christensen and Johann Sonnleitner. As a freelance musician, Hildegard Saretz performs together with ensembles such as the Chursächsische Capelle, the Chemnitzer Barockorchester, and the Capella de la Torre. She also regularly works with Bernhard Forck and Gotthold Schwarz. Saretz acts as an adjudicator in the Early Music category at the Jugend musiziert competition, and has a strong interest in music teaching: she conducts a children’s choir and teaches at the Musikschule Torgau as well as at the town’s Freie Montessorischule.
