Bassano Ensemble Berlin

Founded in 2007, the Bassano Ensemble Berlin is a historic brass ensemble focused on reviving the music of both the prima and the seconda pratica from the 16th and 17th centuries. Named after the Venetian cornettist Giovanni Bassano (1550–1617), the ensemble is generally made up of two cornetts, three sackbutts and organ although it can be expanded to include strings, singers or reed instruments. The Bassano Ensemble Berlin has made numerous appearances in Berlin as well as in Germany, France and Luxembourg, performing in concerts together with the RIAS Kammerchor, the Berlin Singakademie and the Vocalconsort Berlin. The members of the ensemble play regularly in other renowned ensembles such as the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, the Freiburger Barockorchester (Freiburg Baroque Orchestra), the Lautten Compagney, Musica Fiata, Oltremontano and Les Cornets Noirs.
