Tobias Berndt

Tobias Berndt began his musical training in the Dresden Kreuzchor and studied with Hermann Christian Polster in Leipzig and with Rudolf Piernay in Mannheim. His other teachers include Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Thomas Quasthoff. As an established concert singer, he works with conductors such as Helmut Rilling, Frieder Bernius, Marcus Creed, Hans Christoph Rademann, Philippe Herreweghe, Andrea Marcon, Sir Roger Norrington, Teador Currentzis, and Herbert Blomstedt. He has been invited to perform at numerous renowned festivals in Germany and abroad. His extensive concert repertoire stretches from Claudio Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 to works of the 20th century, such as Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem. In addition to numerous opera engagements, he was engaged to sing in the Mastersingers under the direction of Marek Janowski as part of a Wagner cycle. Having had many successes at song competitions, Tobias Berndt is also a sought-after recitalist.
