Stefan Maass
Stefan Maass studied classical guitar and lute, specializing in the music of the 17th and 18th centuries as both a soloist and continuo player. He is co-founder of the Batzdorfer Hofkapelle and is Lord of Batzdorf Castle near Meissen; he helps organize the reconstruction of dilapidated historical building complexes. He regularly performs at the opera houses in Halle and Karlsruhe, the Semperoper Dresden (Semper Opera) and the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. Among the many CD productions include work with the Dresdner Kammerchor under the direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann and the Cappella Sagittariana, the Dresden Staatskapelle, Thomas Quasthoff, Daniel Hope and the contralto Britta Schwarz as well as with the actors Corinna Harfouch and Michael Quast. In March 2000, Stefan Maass received the prestigious Arras Prize for Arts and Culture in Dresden.
