Anja Schumacher
Anja Schumacher studied musicology, German and journalismin Mainz and Berlin. As a singer in the Bach Ensemble of theJohannes-Gutenberg-Universität in Mainz she regularly receivedvocal training and took part in master classes. She alsoattended the master class of the Rundfunkchor Berlin.
Today she appears as a freelance singer, both as a soloistand in various chamber music groups and choirs such as theRIAS‑Kammerchor and the Vocalconsort Berlin. She specializesin early music and in the performance of contemporary works.She has participated in numerous performances and premieresof contemporary composers at home and abroad and hassung under distinguished conductors such as Pierre Boulez,SergiuCelibidacheand Sir Simon Rattle. In addition to theirmain activity as alto and mezzo-soprano she has been workingas a church musician and speech therapist in Berlin.
