Alejandro Picó-Leonís
Born in Alicante, Alejandro Picó-Leonís studied with Ubaldo Díaz-Acosta at the City University of New York, where he also attended masterclasses with Karl Ulrich Schnabel. Having won the New York International Artists Competition, he gave his debut performance at Carnegie Hall in 2002; since then, he has given concerts across Germany, France, Austria, Spain, and the USA. He continued his studies with Norman Shetler in Vienna, complementing these with masterclasses in Lied accompaniment with Graham Johnson. At the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg, he was assistant to Gerold Müller and his class of Lied students.
Alejandro Picó-Leonís has performed alongside renowned musicians such as Francisco Araiza, Peter Edelmann and Miklós Perényi, and he works with ‘new generation’ artists including Bibiana Nwobilo, Yury Revich and Lisa Rombach, with whom he joins forces for the concert series Lied im Schubert-Geburtshaus. In 2012 and 2013, he led masterclasses in Spanish art-song at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität Vienna. He has tutored at the Vienna masterclasses since 2013.
