Stefan Klingele

Stefan Klingele studied conducting and cello at the Musikhochschule Würzburg. He held fixed contracts at the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, and the Theater Bremen where he was to become the opera’s principal conductor. Guest appearances have seen him perform at several European stages, most recently at the Aalto-Musiktheater Essen, the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, the Semperoper Dresden, the Royal Opera Stockholm, the English National Opera in London, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf/ Duisburg, the Volksoper Vienna, the Staatsoper Hanover, and the opera houses of Oslo and Gothenburg. Klingele has held the posts of music director and principal conductor at the Musikalische Komödie Leipzig since the 2015/2016 season.
