Henryk Böhm
The baritone Henryk Böhm began his musical career as a chorister in the Dresdner Kreuzchor. He then studied singing at the Academy of Music in his home town of Dresden. After winning first prize in the International Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau in 1997, he was awarded a German Music Council scholarship and admitted to its “Bundesauswahl Junger Künstler.”
Brigitte Fassbaender engaged Henryk Böhm for the Staatstheater Braunschweig even before he had graduated. Since then, he has enjoyed considerable success in numerous opera houses with a repertoire that includes roles such as Papageno, Figaro, Conte, Don Giovanni, Guglielmo, Barbier, Marcello, Sharpless, Valentin, Donner and Heerrufer. He is also much in demand as a concert soloist in concert halls both in Germany and abroad, and has performed under such famous conductors as Peter Schreier, Helmuth Rilling, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Jörg- Peter Weigele, Udo Zimmermann and Julia Jones.
Henryk Böhm also makes guest appearances at music festivals such as the Musikfestspiele in Dresden, the Settimane Bach in Milan, the Bachfest Leipzig, the Rheingau Musikfestival, the Händelfestspiele in Göttingen, the MIDEM Classique in Cannes, the Herbstliche Musiktage in Bad Urach and the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival. Henryk Böhm has made a number of CD and radio recordings for the labels Genuin, Capriccio and CPO, and has been broadcast on Deutschlandradio Kultur, MDR Figaro, NDR, RAI and Radio France.
