Dresdner Barockorchester

Dresdner Barockorchester
Dresden and Baroque music have a shared history, as the city was a music city of European ranking in the 17th and 18th century. In 1992, graduates of the Dresden College of Music discovered a common interest in this period of music and founded the Dresdner Barockorchester. Lively music making on Baroque instruments in the style of the historical practice of the time and rediscovering forgotten works from the collection in the Dresden Hofkapelle became their trademark.

For a fruitful collaboration, the orchestra has paired itself with the Dresdner Kammerchor and its director Hans-Christoph Rademann for performances of the great oratorios by Bach and Händel and for the most recent complete recording of works by Heinrich Schütz.

The high accomplishments of the artists as well as their predilection for magnificent music making at the Court of Dresden during the Baroque period are documented on several CD recordings.
