Lars Conrad

Lars Conrad
Born in Hamm in 1996, young baritone Lars Conrad received his first singing lessons from Tjark Baumann at the Städtische Musikschule Hamm. While still at school, he took up junior studies at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold with Markus Köhler. Following the completion of his A-Levels, he began his formal studies with Prof. Berthold Schmid at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig . He is prize winner of the Internationale Sächsische Sängerakademie Torgau.

In master classes, he has received teaching from Roman Trekel, Peter Schreier, and Christine Schäfer; in addition, he has worked with Rudolf Piernay and Michael Volle. Conrad gained valuable inspiration for his work in the Lied repertoire from Manuel Lange at Detmold and Alexander Schmalcz at Leipzig.

He offers Lied recitals together with the pianists Alexander Schmalcz and Eric Schneider. University productions have allowed him to gather experience on the opera stage, for example as Willi Graf in Kommilitonen by Peter Maxwell Davies. At the Theater Görlitz, he made his debut performance as Népomuc in Jacques Offenbach’s La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein. Oratorio and Lied repertoires are at the core of his musical activities. Conrad can be heard in regular concerts across Leipzig, for instance at St Nikolai, at the town’s Schumannhaus during the Schumannfestwoche, the Bachfest, or the Mendelssohnsaal at the Gewandhaus.
