Amici musicae
“Passion with a longlastingimpact“ is howthe press describesthe ensemble amicimusicae Leipzig – animpression thatdescribes not onlythe ensemble’s performancesbut alsothe ongoing enthusiasm of its members. Since 1994, youngmusicians with professional aspirations have been performingmusic together while pursuing their education and careers inother fields. Under the direction of Ron-Dirk Entleutner, formermember and prefect of the St Thomas Boys Choir, amicimusicae has become a vital component of the classical musicscene in Leipzig. The combination of mixed chorus and stringorchestra gives the ensemble an ideal basis for a broad musicalrepertoire, which encompasses nearly all musical epochs.A constant in the ensemble’s varied musical work is fosteringthe works of composers from Leipzig, especially those ofJohann Sebastian Bach. Vocal lightness, a dance-like clarity– combined with the realization of historical timbres – arerepresentative of the Leipzig Bach performance practice byamici musicae. Continuous concert activities and a high musicalstandard, as well as annual performances at the LeipzigBach Festival and regular motet appearances at the St ThomasChurch are a feature of its lively musical activity. At the sametime, St Peter’s Church and the Gewandhaus in Leipzig are alsoamong the traditional concert venues of the ensemble. Theensemble’s choir performs on this CD.
