Esther Choi
The young mezzo-soprano Esther Choi was born in South Korea. She studied singing both in her home country as well as at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover. In Salzburg and Vienna, Marjana Lipovsek provided her with many fruitful artistic ideas. The mezzo-soprano has recently performed works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn and Ignaz Pleyel in Vienna and St Pölten. She has sung alongside the tenor Markus Schäfer in Hanover performances of Arthur Honegger’s König David and Gustav Mahler’s Lied von der Erde. The Norddeutscher Rundfunk has featured her performance of songs by Johannes Brahms. Esther Choi’s future projects include Gioachino Rossini’s Petite Messe Solenelle, works by Johann Adolph Hasse, and performances with the Schola Heidelberg.
