Martin Steuber

Martin Steuber is a sought-after chamber musician in the fields of early music and Neue Musik. He studied guitar at the universities of music in Leipzig, in Weimar – with Monika Rost, and in Würzburg – with Jürgen Ruck. He also studied historical plucked instruments at Berlin University of the Arts with Björn Colell. Martin Steuber has performed at festivals such as the MDR-Musiksommer, the ‘Poznan Festival for Contemporary Music’, the ‘ResonanzRaum Festival’ in Hamburg, the Munich Biennale and the Cologne Early Music Festival. Concert tours and engagements have taken him all over Germany and to numerous countries both within and outside Europe, including Austria, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Hungary, Poland, Malta, the UK, Sweden, China, Japan and the USA. Specialising in early music and Neue Musik, Martin Steuber is a regular guest with ensembles such as Avantgarde, Zafraan Ensemble, KNM Berlin, Ensemble Resonanz, Ensemble Courage, Capella Sagittariana, Merseburger Hofmusik, as well as renowned orchestras such as the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Staatsorchester Braunschweig, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Dresdner Philharmonie and the Sächsisches Barockorchester. Further collaborations include those with guitar duo ‘steuber.öllinger’, and the ensembles ‘Tempus Konnex’, ‘Die Athleten’ and ‘Combo CAM’. His work has been well documented in radio and CD recordings.
