Burkhard Kehring
Burkhard Kehring was the official accompanist at classes run by Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Ernst Haefliger, and Hermann Prey from an early stage, and he appeared in melodrama recitals alongside his most important mentor, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Not least, Kehring has designed and performed his own series of Lied recitals across Germany. In his career as a Lied accompanist, he has worked with singers such as Robert Holl, Christian Elsner, Christiane Iven, Christiane Oelze, Kwangchoul Youn, Andreas Schmidt, Roman Trekel, Dietrich Henschel, Daniel Behle, Christiane Karg and Daniel Johannsen, as well as with composers including Matthias Pintscher, Dai Fujikura, Fabián Pansiello, Param Vir and Mahdis Golzar Kashani. Recordings of his endeavours have appeared with Deutsche Grammophon, Berlin Classics, Simax and Naxos. Following twenty years on the international concert circuit as a Lied accompanist, in 2014, Burkhard Kehring initiated the global Divan of Song project. As part of this work, he attends to research into global song repertoires and to the discovery of fresh intercultural approaches. Kehring holds a professorship at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, is a founding member of the Deutsche Liedakademie, and has offered masterclasses in many countries across Europe and Asia.
