Antigone Papoulkas
Antigone Papoulkas was born in Munich and studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln with Hans Sotin and Klesie Kelly, and privately with Soto Papoulkas. From 2001 to 2003 the mezzo-soprano was a member of the Hamburg State Opera, and in 2001 made her debut as Cherubino at the Vienna State Opera, taking on many roles during her two-year engagement. She debuted at the Semperoper Dresden in 2004 as Prince Orlofsky and was a member of the company from 2005 to 2010. Her extensive repertoire includes roles such as Bradamante, Ruggiero, Sesto, Dorabella, Second Lady, Rosina, Hansel, Carmen, Preziosilla, Maddalena, Siegrune, Komponist, Octavian, Boccaccio and Sister Hellen Prejan in Dead Man Walking. Recent guest engagements have taken her to Athens, Chemnitz, Erfurt, Halle and Schwerin, to the Volksoper Wien as well as to the Staatsoperette and Semperoper Dresden. Antigone Papoulkas is also a sought-after concert and lied singer.
