Tilman Lichdi
Tilman Lichdi has established himself as one of the most distinguished concert and lieder interpreters. His performances as the Evangelist in Bach’s oratorios and passions have been particularly well-received. On his American debut in the St John Passion with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, one Chicago reviewer wrote, “You can go a lifetime without hearing the Evangelist sung as well as by Tilman Lichdi, and I’m not forgetting Peter Schreier.” From 2005 to 2013 Lichdi was a member of the Staatstheater Nürnberg. He grew up near Heilbronn and had his first singing lessons from Alois Treml at the age of 18. He first studied trumpet for four years with Günther Beetz in Mannheim, but switched to singing in 1999, studying with Charlotte Lehmann in Würzburg where he graduated with distinction.
