A native of Leipzig, Viola Blache grew up in an environment influenced by church music, which gave her a unique approach to sacred music. She studied early music in her hometown with Marek Rzepka and in Amsterdam with Xenia Meijer. Blache is sought after as a performer of both early and contemporary music. She has performed with conductors such as Bart van Reyn, Ton Koopman, Philippe Herreweghe, Ed Spanjaard, Hans-Christoph Rademann, and Thomaskantor Andreas Reize. She is a regular guest at festivals such as the Utrecht Early Music Festival, the Beethovenfest Bonn, the ION Music Festival in Nuremberg, and the Bachfest Leipzig. She is a special prize winner of the Bach Competition in Leipzig and the Telemann Competition in Magdeburg. Viola Blache owes her passion for ensemble singing to her vocal group Sjaella. The award-winning women’s ensemble is dedicated to expanding the repertoire for women’s voices and has been giving concerts at home and abroad for many years.
