Daarler Vocal Consort
“Daarle“ – “Valley“. That is what the people of Saarbrücken call their “village within the town” – the quarter of St Arnual. At the beginning of 2008, eight members of the internationally renowned Kammerchor Saarbrücken came together to form the Daarler Vocal Consort thus also giving them the opportunity to perform as an ensemble of soloists.
In the first half of 2008, the ensemble performed oeuvres by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Ludovico da Vittorio, as well as works by contemporary composers in several cities in Germany. In 2008, they accepted an invitation to the Festival “Concordia Vocis“ in Cagliari (Sardegna) and they performed Arvo Pärt’s Magnificat as well as their own vocal improvisations in the St Blasius cathedral in the Black Forest.
Several concerts followed in Salamanca (Spain) and Berlin, as well as the recording of this first compact disk. In 2009, the group accepted an invitation to Spain, where, together with Georg Grün, they held a workshop for choral conductors and then appeared at the International Choral Competition in Tolosa.
