Hannoversche Hofkapelle
The Hannoversche Hofkapelle was formed from the Capella Agostino Steffani, which was founded by Prof. Lajos Rovatkay in 1981. Anne Röhrig, who has been the ensemble leader since 1995, took over as its new conductor and has been overseeing the group’s musical activities since then.
A special highlight in the Hofkapelle’s musical activities are their own productions of the Mozart/Da Ponte operas. Since 1998, these are performed biennially at the Herrenhausen Festwochen with great success.
A further focus of the ensemble’s work is the re-production and recording of Georg Philipp Telemanns compositions. In 2000, the Hannoversche Hofkapelle was awarded the Goldene Stimmgabel for their world-fi rst recording of Telemann’s Festkantaten. In this award’s wake the ensemble was invited to perform at the Händelfestspiele Halle, the Rheingau Musik Festival, the Thüringer Bachwochen, the Telemann Festtage Magdeburg and the MDR Musiksommer.
